Current installation of 10.03 with XP
Pro is only a few days old. There are
a few things that MUST be done before
installing 10.03. You must REMOVE any
earlier version of Winfax and/or any
other faxing programs, especially the
little cheapo's on the market. You
MUST DISABLE any programs access to
the modem which usually occurs upon
boot-up. If any program is accessing
the modem the program will not
install. You SHOULD disable any virus
software running. Disconnect Internet
access to protect from a virus while
disabled. Go to program files (after
you've removed Winfax or any other
programs) and delete any signs of
Winfax including Symantec/LiveUpdate.
Restart your computer so that it is
totally clean. In XP, set a restore
point should you have any problems
(but you shouldn't). Then run the
Winfax installation. It should go thru
just fine but I guarantee nothing. The
reason I rate it as 4 stars is because
of all of the things that must be done
BEFORE you install the program. If
Winfax would do all of these things
for you, I would rate it 5 stars. If
you get a bad or incomplete install,
the program and your computer will
cause you headaches. It is necessary
to do the things I've mentioned. I'm a
Winfax user for many years. The other
programs are just "toys".

This software may be ok for people who want to send one or two faxes but any serious user would be frustrated with this rubbish. We use this to send out thousands of faxes and have found that it requires a great deal of manual intervention. The off peak sending feature doesn't work properly. The software crashes continously and occasionally sends people five copies of the sames fax in one phone call. I could list some of the other bugs but there are too many. Overall I would say it is complete rubbish.

Having moved up from Cheyenne bitware,
after it finally gace up the ghost, I
am appalled at the lack of control one
has over this programme. It is
colossally frustrating to use.

10.03 works well for me on XP
computer. Only issue, after computer
boot up, must open Winfax 10.03
message manager manually, before Excel
or Word will print to it. Can't find
instructions to have it open
automatically at boot up.

I was forced to upgrade from v.8.0 when
I upgraded my MS Office Suite. Now I
have a fax program that hangs up when
faxes come through, and sends duplicate
copies of utgoing faxes (i.e., same fax
to John Smith AND to Smith, John).
Attempts to get help from the company
or its website were futile. This
products is the biggest piece of
garbage I've come across in a long time.
