Unreliable device, no customer support

I bought my TX in October 2005 and in Jan. 2006 had trouble with device turning itself on and losing battery power on a regular basis. Palm support could not help, but online forums helped me solve the problem. Now (June 2006) the device resets every time I turn it on and goes back to date 1/1/05. I can't reset to correct date, because once I turn off device and turn it on again, it restarts and goes back to 1/1/05. I can't call Palm for support unless I pay $39. I e-mailed them for support, but they don't respond to my e-mails. This is the 2nd major problem with the TX since it came out just 8 months ago. I never had a problem with my Sony Clie, but Sony no longer makes PDAs. I'll never buy a Palm again.
