The Cisco PIX 501 is an expensive firewall that performs its task very, very efficiently. You may not like spending a few hundred dollars to protect your personal information such as bank records and other highly sought after information, but being an IT professional, I can assure you that inexpensive firewalls are worthless. The PIX 501 is a highly rated firewall sold by Cisco. It's used to protect industrial-grade units and is backed by one of the best customer support structures in all of the information technology industry. Though I find the PIX to be less user-friendly than a Fortigate or other newly designed firewall, I think they are most certainly useable. If you're really serious about data protection, you should definitely invest in this firewall as it'll spare you the headaches of crashing, rebooting, etc., which are common with inexpensive firewalls.
